QuestionDo I need to purchase Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for this computer?

- Answer Yes. Unless you have specifically bought a computer where you have options to add that in it will not have a working Microsoft Office installed on it. The files for Office are pre-installed on most all computers but then you have to purchase and activate it. I would suggest the regular Microsoft Home and Student version over Office 365. All Office 365 versions are one year subscriptions. The regular $125 Home and Student versions are perpetual licenses that stay with the computer and can be moved to another computer if needed.

- Answer Windows 11 Home S Mode is a "protected" Windows 11 that only allows you to download apps or programs from the Microsoft Store and use the Microsoft Edge browser. This keeps you "protected" from viruses and malware but limits the apps or programs you may want to use, such as the Google Chrome browser. It is easy to switch out of S Mode (google "switching out of Windows S Mode" and follow the easy instructions), but you cannot switch back into S Mode once you switch out (you probably won't want to switch back anyway). - Answer Look at the specs and it has Windows 11 Home. You do not need Pro unless you are logging into a corporate domain. The only difference between Home and Pro versions are that Pro has more advanced networking features. If you are using it at home for basic stuff and not logging into formal corporate networks you don't need Pro. Home is fine.

QuestionI have another, what is recommended with defender so other antivirus and malware don’t compete for my ram speed. I saw on another question on a similar model just smaller screen, not to have multiple antivirus downloaded as it will slow system.

- Answer For an HDMI connection, that model will handle up to 4096x2304 resolution, so you're good to go with a monitor at 2560x1080 resolution.

- Answer For normal photoshop images you should have no problem. With very large, muliple layer images, you may notice it slow down as is has to swap some things to the SSD because it can't keep everything in the 8 gigabytes of RAM.

- Answer The computer doesn't have a built in CD/DVD drive, however you can get an external drive pretty inexpensively that plugs into one of the computer's USB ports.

If you're editing videos as a leisure activity, the HP 17-cn0003dx will likely meet the minimum requirements of most software/apps. 256GB of storage probably will be insufficient for video files, which are typically large (but you can connect an external SSD to overcome storage issues). For professional creation and projects, most photo and video apps suggest more RAM at a minimum and a faster processor. A discrete GPU or high-end integrated graphics would be of benefit as well.
