The laptop is lighter and thinner than my older 15" HP. I have been using it for about 2 weeks and carting it back and forth to work and it is tolerating being moved around and going in and out of the back pack with no issues.. The only thing so far was the case cover for the monitor was separated and I noticed it a few days after buying it, but it snapped right back together and has been fine since. Not sure what you plan do use it for, but for everyday use to take to school in a back pack I think it would be fine.
