It was 14 screws, and had to take the DVD unit out, remove the rear rubber pads, pry the cover off with 2 flat screwdrivers (no easy task), pull out factory 8gb ram, replace with 2 matching 8gb memory, then put all together again.

As for the physical storage location of RAM, it is inside the laptop; when unplugged and powered off, simply turn the laptop over and using a Philips screwdriver, unscrew the 8 screws on the bottom of the laptop, and RAM should be readily locatable on either right or left side.
