Thank you for the question. Yes, the battery can be replaced and should be handled carefully. We suggest using a trained technician, such as Geek Squad. The RAM could be upgraded, however, the slot is not user accessible. It would be best to have the upgrade performed by a technician. HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.
