RAM is upgradeable to a maximum of 32 GB. Thats the maximum supported by this processor. the laptop comes with two memory slots with 3GB in each slot. You can also upgrade the hard drive from an HDD to an SSD (solid tate drive). The hard drive slot is a serial ATA (SATA) and the bay can comfortably accommodate a 2.5mm width drive. Hope this helps!

Both memory and disc are upgradeable but it's nowhere near as easy as it used to be on older laptops. As far as replacing the drive, if it's a model with a traditional rotating hard drive, then you should replace it with a standard 2.5" SATA III SSD (e.g., Samsung EVO xxx series) as I don't believe the motherboard is set up to support either m2 or SATA III interface. Note, HP also states that for this motherboard, the max memory supported is 16GB. If your system is out of warranty and you're an experienced system builder, then it's up to you!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Generally, RAM is not upgradeable on laptops. So, no. The hard drive probably IS, but you need to be comfortable with unscrewing the back and taking it apart (or having someone do it for you). Then you'd want to clone your drive to the new hard drive, which yes could be a solid state. But solid state is much more expensive, and don't go smaller than the original size!
