“what speakers fit this monitor? The speakers we have use a USB plug to fit into the monitor which is an HDMI port. The plug -in from the speakers to the tower is fine. Is there a convertor that would work?”

The speakers would need to plugged into the computer since that is where the sound is coming from. I would recommend getting some computer speakers since they would be better than you might find that attach to a monitor.
