• Yes. With my 2 monitors connected to my MacBook Pro, I have 5 screens. See picture I just took while writing this review. Simply Awesome!

• The monitor has no "option" to split the screen. You split the screen using the applications, e..g, Windows, Word, etc. Yes, at 27" it is wide enough to fit two documents side by side
