• It has 1080p resolution and OK refresh rate so yes it can be used to play games.

• I bought mine mostly for work and school (I'm a software engineer), but I did try out some games on it (Overwatch, Elder Scrolls Online). It works pretty well for gaming, but since my laptop has a 17" 4K screen on it, I typically don't use my external monitor for gaming.
