Yes it has to be in place. This cartridge is for designated for photos.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe so. Color prints still use the regular black ink along with the photo black.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, all the cartridges need to be in place in order to print. The photo black cartridge is thinner than the regular black cartridge. Both need to be in place in order to print. The good thing about these individual cartridges is that they can be changed individually if one runs out before the others. I hope this answers your question.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They have both at Best Buy, one is larger than the other. Yes, I needed it to make my photos. They will gladly help you. I had been looking for months and the sales agent knew exactly what I was talking about when I said HP photo ink. Try there
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.photo black is used when printing none word documents such as an online printed document which may have an extremely lite hint of brown at times depending on the site. I have replaced more black than photo black since I am not heavy on photo printing. HP has set the printer up for efficiency.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You should buy the 564 Photo Black to replace the original setup cartridge and need all the colors (including the fatter black cartridge) for best photo quality.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You cannot interchange the black cartridges. The black (pentagon) and the photo black (bowtie) must go in their respectively assigned slots or you will have problems. Just break your heart and buy a new cartridge when the old one runs out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I buy mine at local Best Buy store. Sometimes they are out of stock, just ask customer service when more will be coming in. Or you can order direct from HP. One of my friends gets his at BJ's Wholesale and another at Costco. You should not have any problems finding these.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They each go into their respective slots. You cannot interchange. The cartridges need to be installed but not necessarily full. They can be empty.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We discovered that you do need to replace your regular black ink cartridge when printing photos even though you do have the photo black cartridge installed with ink supply. Apparently, during printing, your projects pull a degree of black from both.
