• I don't see any reason why. I leave mine in and they last a long time.

• There is no power switch on the keyboard but it should not be necessary to remove batteries when not in use. I have other keyboards that have been fine for well over 6 months on a set of batteries.

• You do not have to remove the batteries. The keyboard won't work once the computer is turned off. I hope this helps.
