This document is intended for HP authorized service providers only. Battery NOTE: The battery spare part kit includes the battery cable. Description Spare part number 3-cell, 61-WHr, 5.36-WHr, Li-ion 849315-856 3-cell, 41-WHr, 3.63-WHr, Li-ion 849314-856 Before removing the battery, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 26). Remove the battery: 1. Disconnect the battery cable (1) from the system board. 2. Remove the four Phillips M2.0×4.8 screws (2) that secure the battery to the keyboard/top cover. 3. Remove the battery (3). Reverse this procedure to install the battery.
