• If your laptop has Wi-Fi capabilities, which most do, then once you set it up on your laptop, you will not need to connect a cable to print. You do not even need to connect the cable to set up the wireless printing. Just download the drivers or use the disc that comes with it, follow the instructions, and you will be all set.

• no, the only time is during setup. after that it is all wireless.

• The information I got with this, shows how you can print from your phone even when you are not home. I do not use that as I am old and just wanted a decent printer for pictures.
