• No you do not have to clean the heads. Instructions again explain nothing.

• Good question. If you leave the printer turned on, the printer goes into power saving mode and will do routine maintenance so that the ink does not dry out and the print heads stay clean. If you turn off your printer, it will not do these routine maintenance procedures. I hope this helps.
