Great question. You should have no problem transferring files to this computer. It is a very fast computer. What will make the process even fast is if your portable hard drive is compatible with USB 3.0 because this PC has 4 USB 3.0 ports. The file transfer speed is much faster on a USB 3.0 than a USB 2.0.
