I believe it is from 2019. The oldest review on HP's website is 9 months, so that would make it sometime in 2019. PC Magazine reviewed it in February of 2020 indicating that some of the newest PC's from HP still use 8th generation i5 in their configurations even though 9th generation is available.

The computer was first introduced in late 2019, so the one that you get may have been built in 2019 or 2020. Unlike cars, there is no "new year" changes to the models.
