It could be you have a background process running which is consuming a lot of the processors power. I'd check there. HP loaded this laptop with a bunch of junk like "HP Assistant" and other "helpful tools". I stopped one of the processes and the fans turned off and it's run silent since then. I personally got rid of every HP installed program. I hate BLOATWARE with new PC's. Hope this helps someone. I am happy with the computer.
