QuestionWhat kind of model is more prefered? the i5 or the i7?

- Answer If you run lots of software programs (video editing, engineering software, coding programs, etc.) or intend to do a lot of downloadable gaming on your device, the i7 will run faster and handle more. I don't need any of that ability, so I have the i5 and have been completely satisfied with its speed on the web, using Word, and other basic programs. It's a cost-benefit type of thing, and if you aren't using your computer for intense software programs or gaming, the i5 would give you the same functionality as the i7. Good Luck!

QuestionLast time I bought a computer from Best Buy I spent about $1,000 and it would overheat so much, I am curious to know if the fans/vents are in good places that will prevent it from overheating so often? It is really hard to tell from just the pictures.

- Answer It pulls air from the bottom at the rear of the computer and exhausts out the back of the hinged area. Have been using it extensively for weeks and the keyboard does not get warm and most of the time I cannot hear the fan running.

- Answer yes it is 64 bit. It has to be in order to address more than 4gb of ram. 32bit cannot address more than 4gb of ram and in reality I believe 32bit systems will read 4GB of ram as 3.7GB.

QuestionI got a hp envy by amd and want to exchange it for this. Is the fan loud and how is the battery life. The one i have now looses charge really quickly. I am also concerned about the color. I liked the one i have now because it is black. Please advice.

- Answer I cannot even hear this thing running. I have to double check to make sure it's on because it is so quiet. I love the silver/stainless color of the cover. I find that it doesn't show fingerprints as easily as some laptops do.

- Answer Look at Best Buy SKU: 5318302 That is pretty much this model except with a SSD, i7 instead of i5, but only 8gb of ram when this has 12gb. I bought this model and put my own SSD in, fairly easy to do, just a heads up you will need to remove the back two feet because there are 2 screws underneath the feet.

- Answer yes but you have to be careful of the keyboard, I recommend having it setting on a soft case, rather than a hard surface

- Answer The Intel HD 620 graphics will NOT play these games even on low. You need a dedicated video card to play those games.

- Answer Serial number is specific to every laptop, giving a serial number of one laptop does not help for another, it's like a VIN number for a car.

- Answer None of these answers are helpful. If you search the internet for hours like I did, you will realize that NOT EVERY STYLUS WILL WORK! People should not just answer a question "assuming". Even HP can't recommend a stylus that will work with this model. I found this thread because I have continued to search in hopes that someone really knows of any brand that will work. Sorry I can't name one, but I do want to respond that the answer is more complicated than these answers. I have a regular stylus that doesn't work, but I really want an active stylus. Some people do state that the correct software needs to be updated for the active stylus to work, but it isn't with this particular model. Apparently, there is an issue with HP laptops and stylus compatibility. Even their own active pen doesn't work with all of their touchscreen models. Here is an article HP posted that gives a grid on the laptop model and the appropriate stylus, but this model isn't in it. And on another thread, an HP employee does state that this model isn't listed and they need to further update the document as they "test" them for stylus compatibility??? - Answer This does have bluetooth 4.0 built in with bluetooth smart/low energy. Laptop does have built in microphones in the screen. no fingerprint reader.

- Answer Really not much a little more cache and processor speed with the I-7, depending on if you are going to do some heavy photoshop editing you might want to look into a Quad Core. These are Dual Cores in these Envy's.
