If you run lots of software programs (video editing, engineering software, coding programs, etc.) or intend to do a lot of downloadable gaming on your device, the i7 will run faster and handle more. I don't need any of that ability, so I have the i5 and have been completely satisfied with its speed on the web, using Word, and other basic programs. It's a cost-benefit type of thing, and if you aren't using your computer for intense software programs or gaming, the i5 would give you the same functionality as the i7. Good Luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The i7 is preferred to the i5 because the laptop will run faster with the i7, however a laptop with i5 is about $150-$200 cheaper and runs just as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The appropriateness of any processor depends upon the types and number of programs that you plan to run simultaneously. I suspect that if you are uncertain about the needed processor then you are probably not "a power user" and the lower processor would be more than adequate.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is no universal answer to a question like this. It depends if you are requiring more power or not. If you are running heavy photo and video editors, video processing, and games, then you would want the i7. If you are just using for casual web browsing, streaming video, office, and minor photo/video editing then the i5 would be more than enough.
