I took an interest in getting a new laptop to replace my old Windows 8 with the new OS, but it disturbs me how most of your new laptops on sale have notes saying they aren't built with a CD or DVD drive or slot. Why is that? Is this a new thing or trend now where they've become obsolete or old and you think consumers don't need them anymore? Because I still would. A tablet, that's a different story, but this is a traditional laptop here and is being taken from what made it a computer. So why fix what ain't broken?”

I was surprised by this "missing" part, too. The excuse I got was that it was left off in order to make the unit thinner. So I bought an inexpensive LG portable DVD writer and it works ok.

Companies are shooting to make the computers thinner and lighter and as such, parts are sacrificed. In the case of this 2-in-1, there is no CD/DVD drive. You can always buy the extension with USB for a CD drive. Honestly, it's a change in times, but there are workarounds to it.
