• The i7 processor does multithreading, the i5 does not. That's the main difference between the two. Unless you plan on running multiple heavy cpu programs, an i7 would never reach its full potential.

• Just a note. The comment about no multithreading is false. Both processors, if I'm reading the specs correctly, should have 2 CPU cores with Hyper-Threading, which shows as 4 cores to Windows. One just happens to be faster.

• I'm not a computer tech person but have bought 8gb RAM with i5 processor and so far this one is way faster. i7 is newer so it makes sense that it would run faster.
