Yes you can take handwritten notes with this! I just bought a stylus from Wal-Mart and it worked fine on my laptop. The quality of the notes depends on how well you are able to write with the stylus. Yes it is possible to write on word and powerpoint documents, you just have to go into edit mode whenever you download the document (or just open up a document) and there will be a draw section. Across the top it will say "file" "home" "insert" and then "draw". Just tap the draw tab and click "draw with touch".
