I replaced my pitiful ASUS with a new HP ENVY two months ago and I feel like I made an excellent decision. I had been a huge fan of HP's since the 1990's but when I got ready to purchase my previous ASUS laptop, I made mistake of listening to sales rep instead of my previous experience. Sales rep convinced that DELL and ASUS made much better laptops than HP and, thus, I purchased a DELL. It lasted 4 months and died. BestBuy replaced it with an ASUS and it ended up being worse than DELL. I am "gentle" with my computers/laptops and found myself amazed that keys on my ASUS would "fly off" when I was typing fast, the screen would pop loose when closing the lip on the laptop, screen developed blurred areas, touch screen quit working, hard drive speed slowed, hard drive failed, etc. After two years, I had enough and began my search for a new laptop. I researched every resource I could find. Most resources gave HP laptops very good reviews but gave ASUS and DELL better reviews. When I found most of these reviews were based on laboratory testing and not end user reviews, I then turned to the BestBuy review website and purchaser of the HP ENVY extremely happy with their HP ENVY laptops and a very high percentage stated they would buy their HP ENVY again and recommend to a friend. After reading these BestBuy reviews, I went to my local Columbia SC Spring Valley BestBuy to compare the different brands. I visited the Columbia, SC Spring Valley Store and got EXCELLENT service by the computer rep and even the store manager stepped in to assist me with excellent service. I found the HP laptops stood out when I compared them to the DELL, ASUS, SAMSUNG and LEVENO brands. Of course, I then had to pick a model. For the money, the ENVY model stood to be the best. Yes, it would have been great to have a solid state hard drive but I could add one if I found I needed one. However, when I got home the standard hard drive was excellent as was the key board, the display, sound quality, the speed, etc. I WOULD DEFINITELY PURCHASE AGAIN and RECOMMEND and in Columbia SC I recommend the Spring Valley Store. PROS: Speed, display, sound, key board response, case, hard drive size, battery life CONS: NO internal DVD drive, lack of USB ports (especially when one has to be used for external DVD drive)

Bought this laptop after lots of research. I wanted something fast and functional, as I take online classes, and play around with video editing in my free time. We had some hiccups in the beginning with tablet mode and lagging internet, but did some digging and quickly resolved both problems. It's a beautiful laptop, and feels great to use. Highly recommend.

I purchased 3 laptops over the last year, different sizes, different weights, different processors but was never contented. I am involved in animal disease risk mapping and use databases and spreadsheets as source of data (real time) and mapping software at the same time. This laptop is excellent for that. Not adding the 360 feature as a plus. Downside - keyboard back-light should have a low option in addition to on/off.

I got this laptop and when I change the windows background color to solid black and go into a dark room then I realized white flares in the top edges of my screen . I returned it and got another one and I got same problem again. This only occurs when u are watching dark black desktop and u will never recognize it with any other color. I called HP and they are working on it .. they checked all hardware drivers and they could not resolve it .. I checked with a friend of mine who has same machine and he was shocked from the white flares even though he was using it for months. I attached a photo of what I am having and encourage everyone to test this .. HP rep said this should not happen but I think we are dealing screen defect on this model and hard to see. I discovered it while watching a movie aspect ratio 16x9 with black bars in a dark room.. waiting for HP response as they escalated my discovery !!!

I don't use this laptop everyday. Most times I'd use this laptop once a week. To my horror today I opened it and the display by left hinge popped right open with it as well. A screw fell right out and now I'm left in a predicament where I seemingly have to squeeze the display where the hinge is in order for it not to pry open when I use the laptop. Immensely disappointed because I don't use it enough for it to start falling apart 10 months after purchase.

I regret not doing my research before purchasing this piece of trash! And, I truly believe that it has been used although I bought it as "Brand New." It freezes and shuts off all on its own. Best Buy gives you 14 days to return it and this junk started acting up on day 15! I feel like I just threw my money away. I'll never buy anything else from Best Buy!

    The PERFECT Laptop

I bought this computer back in January (it is now May), I waited so long to write the review because I wanted to get really used to the laptop - that way I can give an actual review over how good or bad this laptop really is. I don't have that many complaints! This laptop is absolutely amazing and I'm extremely glad that I bought it. With that being said, I bought it when it was on sale for only $800, and honestly, I don't think I would spend the $1,000 on this laptop. It's great, yes, but not worth that much money because of the small issues I've had. *Note: The laptop is $1,000 with intel core 7 (i7), the i5 was only $800 but I would recommend getting the higher intel core* PROS: 1) The graphics are astonishing. They make my Sims games look beyond amazing. 2) It has a TON of space! I have all of the Sims 2, 3, and 4 games and I have downloaded them all to this laptop and it's not even close to 1/4 (a quarter) of the way into the space available bar. This is extremely handy for school work - or if you have a job that requires you to have a lot of stuff downloaded onto your own personal computer. 3) The light up keyboard. I've always had laptops that had this feature and I didn't know that it was a feature that most laptops don't have. Unlike my older laptops, this one gives you the option to turn it on and off whenever. I've only needed it once but it really lit up the keyboard really well, and I like that it's not always on. 4) GREAT battery life. This last semester I got really unlucky with classes and I was on campus from 8am until 6pm and the laptop was on around 35% by the time I got home - and that's with using it in every class and most of the time in between classes too. My other laptop would have died out way before then, so the battery life is amazing on this laptop. CONS: 1) My laptop, not sure if others have this problem, will just randomly click off of what I'm doing. For example, I'll be typing up a research report or a paper for my classes and it'll randomly click off the screen while I'm in the middle of typing like I hit something that wasn't on Microsoft Word (like the toolbar at the bottom of the screen) and it'll make that noise. It does it with everything though, and only while I'm typing 2) Num Lock automatically turns itself off every time the laptop is closed. It doesn't matter whether the laptop is just on sleep or completely shut down, the num lock automatically turns off. Having to push the key every time you want to log back in (I log in with a pin number) is just a small annoying thing. 3) No CD rom/drive. Another annoyance, but there aren't any laptops out nowadays that still have a CD rom/drive in it. Luckily, I had a CD thing that you plug into your computer from my old laptop in order to download my games on here - or for the rare occasion that I do watch a movie on my laptop. Other than those two things, I have no problems with the laptop. It's really great and I'm very glad that I purchased it. The cons are just small things that annoy me because that's literally the only problem I have with the computer. The pros list could go on and on but I picked the four that I think are the best. I did read the reviews before I bought this, and the people that gave it below 5 stars had nothing to do with the laptop, and honestly, shouldn't even be on the reviews because they were absolutely no help. *Another note: I have more photos that I wanted to upload of the laptop but for some reason I can only do 2 so I chose the best two. I wanted to upload photos because I noticed that no one else did* Hope my review helps!

I’ve been having this laptop/tablet since 2017 and it still works PERFECTLY fine. I like how is touch screen, that has Bluetooth, and a large amount of memory. The only con is that the battery drains so fast.

I purchased this laptop because I needed a new one in a short amount of time and this one was available in store. It has an impressive list of specs and was on sale for $150 off of the original price. I find that the 15.6" size is a bit too large to really utilize the 2-in-1/Tablet function. Because of that, I rarely use it. I do, however, use the laptop in "tent mode", which I find to be useful for things like watching movies or showing something to my husband easily. PROS: So far, the processing has been very fast. That being said, I have only had the computer for a month or so. The design is sleek looking, and when folded it becomes very thin. The backlit keyboard is nice for when I use the computer at night or while watching TV in a dark room. CONS The keyboard does not have a break key, which I utilize for work often as a programmer. I have not yet found a way around this. The device itself is heavier than i'd prefer. There is no optical drive, but I knew that when I purchased it. I wish that there were more USB ports, and that they were positioned differently on either side.

I have ordered this laptop during Black Friday sale for $700. Delivery got delayed and delivered it on 7-Dec-2016. Surprise here is the product comes with a defect i.e, all the corners of display has some flash light effect, its clearly visible in Black background wallpaper , during Windows update the laptop fan generated too much of noise and heat. The best part is BestBuy's customer service, i returned it in their store and representative placed an replacement order and its got delivered in 3rd Business day. Now, in newer one there is a bit of flash light effect in its one corner but its get dimmed automatically during boot and its not noticeable during black wallpaper test , there is no fan noise during windows update. so, hope i got right quality product what advertised in BestBuy. Pro's Touchscreen, laptop 360 hinge, backlit keyboard, less heat and low fan noise, super fast due to 7th gen i7,16 gig of ram,7200 rpm hard disk, bit heavy but it looks super slim. Cons: smaller up/down arrow keys placement of home, delete, end key. touchpad (still practising right click, moving the files)

I got this after returning the dell I originally purchased. So glad I went with this computer. What I like: the full keyboard, great for working. Also Its fast, I don't do any gaming on it but it's fast for regular web surfering. Weight is good and screen is big. It's good for lighter traveling in my opinion. Can go to the library coffee shops no problem but carrying around all day would most likely get annoying to me. The 2-1 feature is cool but don't need it and haven't used it. Last part and the reason why I didn't buy hp first was the noise of the fan! That was the negative on all reviews...... and... Yes you can hear it and it runs all the time but it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. In fact most times I don't hear it, but yes it runs loud like a desktop pc. I'm still completely satisfied dispite the fan being loud.

This laptop (2 in 1) replaced a 9 year old HP which was my primary computer. It is an excellent laptop & the switch from Windows 7 to Windows 10 was much easier than I thought it would be. I researched & shopped for several months before deciding on this laptop, as I needed 16GB RAM, i7 processor & 1Tb drive. The only compromise I made was that the drive is an HDD rather than the SSD I wanted, thus the 4 stars rather than 5. However, if I ever need/want to replace this HDD, it is possible to do so with a 1Tb SSD! I've been using the laptop exclusively since just after Christmas & it has been a complete pleasure. I only wish I had shopped less & found this computer sooner.

Nowadays is really difficult to choose among all the options around. I visited a Best Buy store and this HP Envy was the perfect one I was looking for. 16GB of RAM, 1TB of HD, 15.6 inches touch screen, with i7 Intel processor, 2 in 1 (yes, it can be Tablet too) makes it a beautiful yet powerful Laptop. I have installed a couple of demanding SW for data processing and it runs smooth (R statistics). The only thing I am not sure about is that if it really needed the Geek Squad plan offered me, the HP Envy despite the initial Windows 10 license problem (it was solved with a Microsoft update), looks really solid now. I am really happy with it.

Very fast processor and well designed laptop. Features are streamlined and easy to do. Battery life is good, but not great. My only complaint is the SSD drive as it can be a little slow at startup. I would have normally bought a computer with less RAM and added myself, but the price was right on this one. Well worth the $700.00 that I paid for it on Black Friday, but not worth breaking the bank for.

Bought this laptop to upgrade from my 7 year old Toshiba satellite a665. My application for laptop is an everyday use for work writing inspection reports using word and excel. other work applications are AutoCAD, and corrosion monitoring databases inputting large amounts of data to run ample amount of different calculation. to figure design pressures, temps, corrosion rates, remaining life of equipment, etc. Been using this laptop for a month now and seems to be performing well so far excluding the fact this is my second one the first one lasted little over a week and they think the hard drive failed but Best Buy was very quick in action and did not hesitate in getting me back up and running by replacing my laptop with a brand new one no questions asked. The second one has not had any problems going on 3 weeks. performance and speeds are good considering the not so up to par network speeds we have available in rural areas I generally work in. I really like the touch screen functions and make it nice for digitals signatures that do not require certificates but I'm still in search of a better stylist I have an anoint dash 2 its ok but seems to skip some while trying to handwrite on the screen. The keyboard is slightly smaller than my Toshiba so I'm still trying to adapt to that but seems to have an accurate autocorrect for misspelled words from me hitting a wrong key frequently right know. but it is getting better with time. I will say it does run a lot cooler and quieter than my Toshiba. I am also new to windows 10 I have been parcel to windows 7 but finally decided to upgrade so I cant give it a 5 star at this time but I can say its without a doubt no less than 4 star I'm sure with time I will become more familiar with all the new features, functions and set up of my new HP Envy 15 and will be able to give a better review on how well it performs. But all in all I would recommend this laptop to a friend
