This model monitor was first released in early 2021 and is one of the current models, so it's actually quite new, and you should have no problem connecting a new laptop to it. The monitor has both an HDMI and a VGA input, so if your laptop has either of those, you can just hook them up with the appropriate cable. Depending on the laptop, you may need to press a key combination (on HP laptops, it's usually Fn+4 or Fn+5) to send the signal to the monitor.
