What worked better for me on Windows and Mac is to open Mac Preview app or Windows Fax and Scan, load the document into feeder and then use either of those programs to scan and save as a pdf or jpg, etc. works amazingly well that way.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for reaching out. "Scan to computer" is disabled by default, so you'll need to enable it. Open the HP Printer Assistant. (From the Start menu, click All Apps, click HP, and then select the printer name). Go to the Scan section. Select Manage Scan to Computer. Click Enable. Load the document on the scanner glass or into the document feeder according to the indicators on the printer. From the Home screen on the control panel, touch the Scan icon. Swipe right and then touch the Computer icon. Select the computer you want to scan to. Verify the Scan Shortcut is the option you want to use, or touch Scan Shortcut to select a different scan option. If you are using the automatic document feeder (ADF) and your original is single-sided, touch the left side of the Original 2-sided slider to move it to the off position. To select any additional scan options, touch the Settings icon. Touch Send or Start Scan.
