A:Answer No, if you purchase a 4-cartridge printer you will need all the inks in. The printer won't work if one is empty to prevent burning out the print heads (you have a small grace period before you can't print anymore). If you need an inkjet printer, look to our 2-cartridge printers which run on a single cartridge if needed. That would be DeskJet, Envy or most OfficeJet (not OfficeJet Pro). Otherwise you can get one of our LaserJet printers, which print in black if the color are empty (or come in monochrome options if you never need color).
