• To answer your first question: No, you don't have to sign up for the Instant Ink program. A lot of people are afraid of printing anything in color because of the perceived cost. By switching from "how much ink do you use?" to "how many pages do you print?" it removes that concern, because printing a page in color costs no more than printing it in black and white.
