Good question. Pavilion is the model name for the HP laptop. Pentium is the Intel processor in the computer. The processor is the brain of the computer. Neither term is antiquated. The Pentium processor gets updated just like the other processors made by Intel. It is important to know how much computer power you need when you choose a processor.
