in general, most computers wont over heat as long as the are cleaned out regularly. with laptops that usually means taking them to someone and having them cleaned. with desktops, you can remove the side and blow the dust out of them with the canned air sold at most electronics departments in most department stores. over time, dust builds up inside both laptops and desktops. this dust often concentrates on the heat sink of the processors. this causes them to run hotter over time until they start overheating. it will also reduce the efficiency of the processor as they run hotter. AMD processors are bad about overheating as they are designed for performance and normally run hotter than Intel processors do. i hope this helps explain the trouble you have been having with overheating.
