“Purchased new in box. Hooked up with VGA and HDMI dual using HP 27F monitors, also new. But when I power on the tower, it will not start up unless one of the 2 are unplugged from tower. Both monitors remain black with no signal coming to them. Ideas?”

I cannot be sure. It could be that you would need a higher wattage PSU to handle graphics processing that two monitors require. I would reach out to your local Best Buy Geek Squad or HP Support for troubleshooting.
