QuestionDoes the HP Pavilion 690-0024 / AMD Radeon RX580 GPU support a AOC C24G1 monitor set at 144hz? I am hearing that the max output out of the DP port on the GPU can not support Higher than 60 hz , is that true?

- Answer The RX 580 in this model is built to reference specs. It should have no issue with higher refresh rates or even FreeSync capable monitors.

QuestionI have connected this to my TV using an HDMI cable from the graphics card HDMI port to the tv. I have no audio. Everything looks ok in Control Panel - Sounds, but says speakers are not plugged in. Any suggestions?

- Answer Unfortunately brand is not shared within our information, but the RAM is type DDR4-2666, speed: PC4-21300 MB/s. The SSD is a 128 GB PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 Solid State.

QuestionCan the iGPU in this computer be disabled to free the 1 GB of system RAM it uses? I can't seem to get to a real BIOS to see if it can be disabled there. If possible and not ill-advised, how do you access the BIOS on this computer to turn off the iGPU?

- Answer No it cannot. And with a BIOS update that I'm sure not everyone has applied, it now reserves 2 GBs of system RAM. The BIOS is really locked down. Hardly anything to adjust in there. Reboot and press F2 till text menu comes up, then press F10 to enter the BIOS. HP needs to issue a fixed BIOS that disables the processors integrated graphics access to system ram. Funniest thing is that the motherboard does not allow the use of integrated graphics period. If it did, there would be a way to disable it from the get go. A real big oversight happened here.

Questionwould like to replave the standard SSD drive with a NVMe SSD. Whst is an HP approved NVMe drive part number. It was suppose to come with an NVMe drive as quoted on HPs site but it looks like HP cheaped out with a regular M.2 drive

- Answer Any RAM as long as it is PC4-19200 (DDR4-2400) and Ryzen 5 compatible should work.

QuestionThe cap on the VGA port on this machine says "Do not remove", yet in answers provided to some questions, people say we can use VGA port. Can someone please explain when we can and cannot use VGA port?

- Answer By using any of the video ports on the motherboard (where the VGA is) you would not be using the GPU. To use that VGA port you must remove the GPU from the computer but there is no reason why you should ever do that, the performance of the computer is greatly degraded. If you need VGA then get an HDMI or DisplayPort adapter. If your monitor has other connections besides VGA I recommend using them.

- Answer Beware. It does but the port cannot be used. I specifically bought this model because of the vga port and I'm very disappointed. The VGA port is blocked off by a "do not remove" plastic cover. It cannot be accessed from either inside or outside. See pictures. So the answer is NO, you cannot connect a monitor with VGA cable to this unit.
