• Keyboard and trackpad turn off completely in tablet mode. There is no need to cover it.

• Yes, the keyboard automatically disables when you flip the screen around. A window also pops up with a "Switch to Tablet Mode" question. I do not cover my keyboard when in Tablet mode. But you could probably buy a laptop cover and slip it over the keyboard when in Tablet mode.
