This could just be a factor of the specific 13" being a slightly newer model. The variations aesthetically are pretty small. The best bet is to compare the model number with what HP is currently producing to find out when these two laptops were produced. Hope this helps!

Most would choose the larger screen if they could, so the smaller one gets produced less making it something less common and more expensive to make. It sounds stupid because the smaller screen would obviously use fewer materials right? Well, the screens and laptops are rolling through the 15" laptop maker machine and then they suddenly have to stop doing this to convert their output to a 13" screen and they lose productivity on the more popular 15" screens. at least that's how it was explained to me, hope that is helpful.
