My opinion is that macproducts are overpriced. This computer is good, so are the mac line of products. The advantage of mac is that if you have a lot of mac products, they are designed to play very well together (although sometimes they force your products to become obsolete.) The advantage of PC is a wider variety of software and hardware available for you to use and all at a cheaper price. That being said, i used to work in academia and there was the mistaken impression that macs were better and the schools would buy a lot of mac products. Macs can understand PC's but PC's can't understand macs, so if you walk into a situation where everyone has macs and you have a pc, you might not be able to share stuff as easily. Also, you can get software that will run PC software on your Mac. It doesn't work anywhere near as well as a PC running that software, but it will do it.
