I’m a recently retired software engineer/software architect/artificial intelligence expert (was schooling off/on 1970s through 2020). I would have killed to have this laptop any time during my education or career. I would, however, upgrade the RAM to either 32 GB or 64 GB (see earlier TL;DR post that describes tricky particulars of RAM upgrades). If I were a CS student now, I’d either buy 2 of these (one for Windows and one for Linux) or else maybe partition the SSD 4-ways (Windows boot, Win data, Linux boot, Lin data). And carry 2-4 (64 GB - 1 TB) flash drives for backups and project data. Laptop should be good for all CS classes and classic AI. Only need a more pricey laptop for doing local Machine Learning models (and best to wait a couple years to get more bang/buck on that anyway since minimum cost on that laptop is currently $2500).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Even a $4,000 top of the line workstation won’t be “good enough” for a top comp-si major in four years, so….this might be a good inexpensive intro?
