I don't have an answer as to why it does this my son has the exact same phone and it's not quite a year old it will turn off for hours at a time and not turn back on and won't charge while it's off and he is not able to turn it on. Then when it does finally turn back on it will go through updates which take quite a while. This is a very poor quality phone I do not recommend it to anybody. I will be replacing it very soon
