Dear Customer, We will gladly solve your doubts regarding to this term. The difference between a Lock and an Unlocked phone is the following: With a "Lock" device, you will be able to use your device only with one service provider. As well, the carrier may modify the preinstalled apps depending on their necessities, for example, if you buy a phone from "Carrier X" it will have some preinstalled apps to top up your device, service information, etc. Also, when a new update is available, the carrier needs to test and addapt that update to his specifications before to release it to their users. Adding to these, if you are thinking to change to “Carrier Y” you will need to ask to “Carrier X” for the release code to unlock your device to any carrier. With an "unlocked" phone you are able to work with the service provider that you prefer, depending only on the network specifications that the device has. Regarding to the updates, the manufacturer will be in charge to test and release any update available to this device. So, the advantages of having a “Unlocked phone” are: Having less preloaded applications If you are thinking about doing a small trip to other country, you will only need to check the network compatibility and you will easily be able to switch your SIM Card to any other carrier. Our Honor 6X is compatible with the following networks: Primary SIM card: FDD-LTE: B2/B4/B5/B12 (mFBI B17); WCDMA: B1/B2/B4/B5; GSM: B2/B3/B5/B8. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You aren't bound to a specific company. It is unlocked for companies that work with certain types of phones. It is because of the technology, not the companies.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unlocked means it will work on any GSM carrier. That would be AT&T and T-Mobile in the USA, and any MVNO that uses their towers. It will not, however, work on Verizon or Sprint. The advantage of using an unlocked phone is that if you switch from AT&T to T-Mobile, or vice-versa, you can easily take your phone with you. In addition, if you travel to another country, you will be able to purchase a SIM card that will work on this or any other unlocked phone. Most carriers will unlock their phones because of consumer pressure, so purchasing an unlocked phone is not a huge deal anymore. I purchased the Honor 6X not because it is unlocked, but because it is an exceptional bargain.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. An unlocked phone is awesome. You are limited on carriers but, only because certain carriers don't support certain phones. Some services also require you buy their phones to get their service. Choose an unlocked phone that is supported by your network.
