Does this work with a case on a laptop null

This will definitely work specifically with a MacBook even with a case on it. The HyperDrive hub comes with a magnetically attached adapter or grip (magnetic strip mount) which helps secure the hub to the MacBook without a case on it. If you read the ‘Features’ of this product on the Best Buy site it states “Easily detach the magnetic strip to use the hub with devices that have cases.” If you do have a protective case on your MacBook, you simply remover the grip and the USB -C connectors on the HyperDrive hub are long enough to reach the Thunderbolt ports to transmit power and data. With or without the adapter, the hub attaches securely so don’t worry about it falling off even if you have a lot of peripherals attached to it.
