“Does the 7.1 audio only work with the USB Or would the 7.1 audio work with the 3.5mm cord?”

• I have used just the headphones to make calls on my phone and I'm sure the 7.1 audio is generated by the usb dongle sound card that comes with the headphones.

• No, 7.1 is only with the USB dongle.
