Really depends what your specific board supports. [# of sticks, maximum per-stick capacities, speeds, latencies, etc.] If it supports single-sticks up to 16GB, then yes [assuming you have an available slot that supports it]. If it only supports up to 8GB sticks, then no. Also make sure to match the clock speed of your existing RAM as closely as possible. So, if you have DDR4 3200, get another DDR4 3200, rather than say a DDR4 2666, etc. So you're not forcing one or the other stick to "down-clock," etc. But, yes, you can install modules of different sizes [if your board supports the specific sizes, and the speeds, latencies, etc. are a pretty good match].
