Yes. You have the choice to create albums that are private or to share. I'm new to ibi. I think you can password protect your photos. The first ibi I purchased did not work. I had no trouble exchanging it. The second unit has had a problem loading an album; In fact, the little whirling circle wont stop spinning. I contacted the troubleshooting folks, who told me there is no way to cancel an album. NOT a good feature to leave out! The album that won't load does not stop me from creating more new albums, but it bothers me that there is a malfunction of some sort. I'd think about it if I were you.
