I read that it had to do with the proximity of the top rack to the heating element above it. Apparently people were using parchment paper or something that curled up on its edges and made contact with the burner, starting a fire. I'm not sure but I assume they lowered the top rack and added some safety mechanism. I bought the one listed here and it is not on the recall list
