There's nothing specifically addressing this issue in my manual, other than not to use a plastic bag. However, to speculate a little, I can think of 3 possible reasons, in order of likelihood: 1. Even with a "well-fitted" plastic bag, there is a great chance that the plastic may get sucked up into the cutting mechanism while operating, causing it to jam, and potentially damaging the unit; 2. The plastic, being in close approximation to the motor/grinding mechanism, may act as insulation, casuing the motor to prematurely overheat when in continuous operation; 3. The plastic might possibly create a static discharge that would effect the function of the unit (although this is less likely an issue for this unit since the product is not digital and, therefore, does not contain a microchip.) You may wish to contact the mfr. directly to get the answer. They can be contacted at: 877-467-289, or www.insigniaproducts.com Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use the bag that the shredder came in to line the basket. It fits inside the unit and I have it overhang out the front a few inches. The basket still closes all the way and the unit will work. When mine gets about 3/4 full I empty it and reuse the same bag for the next cycle. I have no need to buy any expensive bags when this one works just fine..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just use a bag a little larger than the container. The bag is almost clear so it is easy to see when to empty it. I believe I got a roll of 100 bags at Home Depot for about $12.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have put in plastic grocery bag into bin to catch paper and it has worked well for me
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I guess you could but it didn't really seem like a big deal. You do need to dump the shredded paper in a bag though or it would be a mess!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm guessing it needs flush contact to activate the motor - that's how one of my other ones worked. Plus, if there were sparks, plastic will burn!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it would be nice to able to put in a trash bag liner. Maybe Insignia will come up with an idea in doing it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure, but I think perhaps the bag would be too bulky inside the container and could get caught up in the shredding mechanism. Besides, it seems to hold a lot more waste than other shredders of similar size. So, you won't have to empty as often.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Need answer to how to get paper bag holder out of swing line lx20-30 shredder
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think that the fit between the canister and the shredder would be too tight for adding a plastic bag. It really isn't a big deal to take the whole container to a trash can and empty it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
