• The speaker is powered and has volume adjustment, so I'd say yes. I did a test to see how my headset compared to the speakers when I plugged the headset into the available Jack on the front of one of the speakers and it was much louder. I had to turn it down quickly. As far as your laptop volume, you may want to click on the speaker icon on the bottom, right of your screen and see what your volume level is set at. Something else to check is to right-click on that same speaker icon and click on "Open volume mixer". Check to see what the volume levels are set at for your playback devices.
