It is completely normal for the side of the refrigerator to feel hot as there is a motor inside that works to keep the food cold by removing heat from the inside and releasing it outside. This process generates heat on the side of the refrigerator, causing it to feel warm to the touch.   • QuestionI set the temperature to 35F and put a thermometer inside. The temperature fluctuate from 37 to 45, is this normal? I'm using the fridge for cold proofing my dough and because of the inconsistency of staying cold at 35, my dough overproofed. Help?

Icebox temp is affected by position/airflow, ambient temps, the (initial) temperature and mass of what you put into the fridge and how frequently you open the doors. Even high-end commercial freezers in supermarkets will fluctuate wildly under heavy use. An Energy Star rated home appliance will NOT perform like a laboratory grade cooler,
