It sounds like you have a 2.5' drive from your Dell Inspiron One (the enclosure will be bigger than either a 3.5" or 2.5" drive), but I am not sure as you have not included the model number from the Inspiron One for researching the specific computer. If the HP has no license sticker on it for Windows, it was born with Window 8 on it and you can put the drive in the computer, download Windows 8 from Microsoft and it will just work, as Windows 8 is activated via the hardware of the computer rather than a license sticker. As soon as you get Windows 8 running, install Windows 10 ASAP to keep yourself current. If the HP was a Windows 7 computer, you should buy a retail copy of Windows 10 and just install that and be done with it. Dropping a Dell drive in a Windows machine will very rarely work, and if it does, I would download Windows 10 from Micrsoft ASAP and do a clean installation. Either way, you might want to enlist the help of your local or family computer nerd, as they will have probably have tried this same operation before and might have some tips and tricks.
