Customers are saying
Customers find value in the 3.5" Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosure for its user-friendly design, making data recovery and backup a simple task. They appreciate the compatibility it offers and the fast transfer speeds provided by the USB 3.0 interface. While some users find the price reasonable, others feel it is expensive. Concerns have been raised about the lack of proper cooling and the small screwdriver included, which is inadequate for attaching the drive to the carrier.

Great product for legacy drives

Perfectly and easily integrates into system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I removed a 1TB 3.5" Hard drive from a new computer to use as extra storage after installing a SSD. This enclosure and SATA attachments fit the drive well, and it created a snug little external drive connected via USB 3.0 where I store everything that doesn't benefit from the SSD upgrade (documents, pictures I'm not modifying, video, etc.) while the programs and system runs through the SSD keeping my computer fast. The drive is well protected and the the form and functionality fit nicely... it looks like a clean, sturdy, understated part of an otherwise nondescript desktop computer. Price was lower than I expected for the quality.

Saved my stuff!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Gateway refused to even power up. I was looking at replacing the power supply but then aside from what was on the hard drive it was going to be a useless computer because it was too old to accept the new operating systems and I use a Mac for 90% of my computing needs. Geek Squad turned me on to this device and the issue was resolved. Works perfectly. Dirt easy to set up even for a non-geek. Saved everything and now have a lot more data storage using the old but completely usable hard drive from the Gateway and this Insignia unit.

Really saved me when I most needed it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lightning struck nearby and it fried the motherboard on my computer. I replaced the computer but I would never be able to replace all of the important case files, spreadsheets, documents, and picture files that were entombed on the old hard drive of my dead computer. Best Buy bailed me out when I purchased the Insignia Hard Drive Enclosure! With its 3.0 USB, it was blazing fast transferring the data into my new computer! Problem solved! What a relief! Now I am using it to perform external back ups of my data on a regular basis!

great 3.5" HDD enclosure
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installing the drive into the enclosure is very easy if you understand how to work a #2 Philips head screwdriver. Works great, no issues. Highly recommend. Great for transferring data or using extra serial HDD's for data storage.

Saves Money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased 3 so far and will get more to convert old internal drives to external. USB 3.0 provides fast data transport for archiving files. Am replacing smaller internal drives with larger ones and these cases help me avoid copying all of that data over to new drives and yet keeps it available for fast recovery when needed.

Q: Questioncompatabilitywill this work to get pics and music off the hardrive from a dell 530 inspiron DESKTOP COMPUTOR HARDRIVE?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer That is exactly what I did. Need to get data off of a hard drive from a old broken PC. Worked great. Only issue was file permissions and ownership needed to be tweaked once the drive was mounted on the new PC via the USB enclosure.

Q: QuestionI see that a screwdriver is a supplied accessory. If it is plug and play, what is the use of screwdriver. It seems that I need to have serious assembly to perform.
Asked by sankarmukh.
- A:Answer The screwdriver is to unscrew/screw screws that keep the enclosure closed. Two screws, that's all. The actual HDD is plug into the brace and then the brace is screwed into the enclosure.

Q: QuestionAnyone use this on a ps4 pro, as an external hard drive? I have a 3.5" 2 TB HD laying around that I plan on putting in this. I believe it needs to be usb 3.0 which I believe this is. Can anyone verify that this would work?
Asked by TSL.
- A:Answer Well because it is an enclosure it can pretty much fit any hard drive in it. You should be able to use thus for the hard drive you have and use it as an external hard drive. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionHow well does this case format help cool the SATA HD operating inside the case?I have a concern about the proper cooling for a SATA HD (non portable) housed internally.. The case only appears to have heatsinks on both sides that provide some level of heat dissipation. Is that sufficient if the case is sealed on both ends? To be on the safe side, I slightly opened the back door to the cover to let the hot air flow out better. Is that necessary or a good practice? I believe it is but wanted to get additional comments if possible.. For those that may have this setup, any comments/input would be appreciated.. Thanks
Asked by rkskeet.
- A:Answer I agree - the drive gets very hot inside this case. I would not use it as a constant-on external drive case, but it would be ok for transferring files and only on for short periods. For an external drive with heavy constant use, I'd get a case with ventilation and even a fan.
