No you can change the face plate. I installed mine next to a flip switch and used a dual plate from lowes/home depot. Worked great!!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We changed the faceplate to a stainless steel plate that matched the other faceplates around our kitchen countertop. You should have no difficulty switching to another faceplate assuming you can locate the larger plate you're looking for.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The supplied faceplate is not the normal width, but rather the next size up. It is a bit thicker than "normal/everyday" faceplates but a wide general purpose faceplate should work fine. I feel for your having lousy handiwork.
