• no smart tv's are just app enabled so you don't have to connect media devises to them to view things like netflix. as an example my son likes to watch netflix but before on our non smart tv we had to access the netflix through the xbox game console. now we just go to the home screen on the tv and netflix is right there along with other apps like pandora, youtube, hulu, and many more apps to choose from. if you have a cable box then it will hook up like normal to this tv, no extra items needed but it doesn't have component connections, just 3 hdmi and one video connection.

• Yes, you need some form of cable service or government issued antenna. Otherwise you won't be able to access any local channels to watch TV (if using a non smarttv)

• No cable service is needed for any tv but if you don't have cable you would need an antenna to watch over the air broadcast channels.

• Either cable or a HD antenna. But you only get local stations with that
