The 5.0 cf freezer has a dial selector to adjust the temperature to your liking. I set the unit on the coldest setting overnight, then turned it back to the recommended medium setting. With the freezer about 25% full of frozen items, the freezer is maintaining about -6F on the recommended temperature setting. My freezer is in the garage. I recommend purchasing a small thermometer to place in the freezer to monitor it. With the price of meat these days, I might invest in an alarm to alert me if the freezer has any issues.

This temperature is ideal for freezing and storing food safely over long periods. Regularly checking the internal temperature with a separate thermometer can also help ensure optimal performance. -Ed | Insignia Support | https://www.bestbuy.com/site/brands/best-buy-brands/pcmcat1596746025285.c?id=pcmcat1596746025285
