I don't think it's noisy; it gives off a gentle hum when it's cooling. If you are accustomed to absolute silence you will probably hear it but if you have become accustomed to the noises that most appliances in your home make you will probably get used to this. To me, it is quieter than my refrigerator and quieter than a small fan that I use in my office.
